Caring for our community
There are some true gems in our community, who give their time and energy to care for our community. Jan Ainsworth is one of those people.
Jan is a volunteer fire fighter, and the father of our lovely Ruth. He was recently awarded his New Zealand Fire Service 50 years Double Gold Star.
We see first hand just how important the volunteer fire service is in our community. They’re often the first on the scene at fires and accidents, running towards the danger rather than away from it. Our community needs people like Jan.
Jan has been a member of the Hawera, Opunake, New Plymouth and now Waitara fire brigades.
He is one of only 318 people in the country to give 50 years of service and earn a double gold star. Congratulations Jan, our community appreciates you.
